Last weekend, three teams of players and basketball coaches, Joel and Tahanee, with their support crew, Johnny, Max, Billy and a few volunteers, travelled to Hobart for the weekend to participate in the Tas All School Basketball Championships.
With little opportunity to play together except for a few recent Tutorial Time practice sessions, the three teams did extremely well representing Don College.
The Division B boys went down in their Playoff Decider to Newstead College in an absolute thriller. Newstead were lucky enough to hit both of their foul shots with six seconds on the clock to win by two points.
The girls showed some real fight and excellent teamwork in their defeat to Guilford Young in the Grand Final. Our girls had a heap of fun and played with a smile the whole time. They competed at a really high level against a team
that plays together all year round.
The Division A boys competed hard in a high quality and high intensity game trailing by 10 at 3 quarter time. Guilford Young shot the ball exceptionally well from the three point line for the majority of the game and our boys did a great job staying in the contest.
Despite excellent energy from the crowd in the last quarter they ran out of gas and ended up losing by 20. As with the girls the boys played brilliantly as a team and demonstrated excellent skills across the weekend.
We made Don College proud and the fun we were having was a real talking point across the whole weekend. We had the most fun and the best supporters (each other) by a mile.
Two Runners Up in A division is an outstanding result. Well done everyone.
